A new post.

It has been a very long time since I posted on this, my blog. Recent events have forced me to act and write this, my most recent blog post.

pigeons

I was cycling to work today when two pigeons flew up to get out of my my way. They flew directly towards each other, smacked in to one another and then flew off in opposite directions. It was beautiful.

A moment of flapjack happiness

Average day of work. I sit at my computer, staring at my screen, thinking about the minimal amount that I have acheived so far today and the massive amount that I need to achieve between now and and the inevitable, intangible, deadline - is it weeks away? Months? Days?!? I have trouble remembering, I could look at the schedule on the wall but that will just depress me. I poise my pen over my wacom tablet, ready to launch in to another frame, another background, another design, whatever it was I am working on. I move the pen, willing myself to be more productive, get more done in less time - don't look at my tea, I've already had several sips I don't need another, not yet! - frustration sets in! Why isn't the pointer moving? I look at my pen, it is the wrong pen, green ballpoints do not work with a wacom! I throw it aside, carefully. I pick up the correct pen, I poise it over the tablet once again. The moment has passed. I take a sip of tea. One more. I return to the poise, what was I doing again? Right, productivity, go! A head pops round the doorway to my left - "There is flapjack next door. Come and help yourself..." I am pratically out the door before the sentence is finished. Back at my computer I sit sipping my tea and munching on my second slice of flapjack. I look at Bill Watterson's brushstrokes that compose my Calvin and Hobbes desktop background, I watch a buttery oat fall on to my keyboard and disappear between the keys forever, I try to work out if the music playing from the factory across the road is Kylie or Shakin Stevens, I wonder if there is a band called Shakin Stevens or did I just make that up in my head, I look at a tree... I drink more tea and munch more flapjack. This is a moment of utter contentment.

Introducing another blog!

Well, I guess it is about time I wrote something in my blog, otherwise there is not really any purpose to me having a blog.

Hello, this is my blog. In this blog I am going to write about things. All kind of things, whatever I feel like writing really. I want to try and avoid writing about my day to day activities though. Frankly my day to day activities are not very interesting...

'Melvyn Bragg woke me up today, rattling on about Galileo or the like. I had a cup of tea and honey on toast for breakfast. Then I read some Peanuts on the toilet and had a lukewarm shower and got some soap in my eyes. I cycled to work and once again managed to avoid being hit by anything. At work I had a cup of tea and checked my emails. Someone has sent me an email asking me about something, I decide to reply to it later and then forget about it for several days. I look on myspace to see how many people havn't posted any comments. I get on with work and have another cup of tea. I check my emails again. Abu Handa NEEDS MY URGENT REPLY! I delete it. Get on with work. Have a look at BBC news website. Another cup of tea. More work. Check emails. Look at watch. 1pm already! Where has all the time gone!! Better get on with work! Check emails...'

You get the idea. It would be the same everyday. Not very interesting. Hopefully occasionally something of my day to day activities will be interesting enough to actually write about...

'Melvyn Bragg woke me up today, rattling on about Galileo or the like. I had a cup of tea and honey on toast for breakfast, but there was a bee in my honey! Has this ever happened to anyone before? I decide to write to Terry Wogan about it. He will know what to do...'

That's the kind of thing worth writing about! If nothing like that happens though I might just make stuff up...

Who will know?

Right, time for some tea.
